Amsterdam is known for its canals, which have been the face of its city center for centuries. Water was the main way to transport goods in the past, and today many of Amsterdam’s canals are used for sightseeing and pleasure cruises. The Anne Frank House is one of the most popular attractions in Amsterdam, and is the place where the Jewish girl Anne Frank went into hiding during World War II and wrote her famous diary.
